hmm- what else- oh yeah- it's friday, 5pm, i'm the only one left in the office, but i'm compelled by a higher force to sit here and continue writing.
i will soon be unfettered and free to go home and work through the weekend. it's a glorious time right now, an unprecedented time (at least in our lifetime), where we get to support the roughly 10% of our comrades that are unemployed. like our wives, husbands, partners, friends, whatever.
yet, even with having to carry the extra workload, friday still feels like the day before christmas (or whatever day gets you excited- save the hate mail, please, i don't care) every week. it's ingrained to symbolize the beach, drinking light beer with bikini clad coeds, maybe even sleeping for two days straight. well- there's another reason- friday glidin' (tm).
friday glidin'- alright i'm trademarking that right now- it's something i've been doing for the past 20 years- that is riding on friday. it's really everyday, but because i'm poor, don't own a car, and am forced to ride daily. yep- life is rough, but a little less rough on two-wheels.
so- here's the idea: whether you have a job or not, wear a suit or a dress to work- hop on your dang bike on friday. just do it. be the envy of your coworkers and neighbors.
tell everyone you know. call all your riding friends on thursday night and remind them of friday glidin' . btw, you don't have to be on an e glide, r glide, or even a harley to be friday glidin'.
if, even for a moment, the troubles disappear. trust me. i'm getting ready, putting on my feminine-looking cordura touring coat (with reflective piping!!) and my full face helmet (to protect my identity) and hitting the streets of LA.
