Just because something’s been done the same way for a long time doesn’t mean it’s the best way to do it. For example, most Harley exhaust systems come with twin mufflers, and have done so for longer than most people can remember. But if you really do your horsepower homework, you’ll find that two-into-one systems make more power, especially down low in the rev range where the engine spends most of its life. We’ve been building the Road Rage two-into-one for more than 20 years, and now it’s available for 2010 FLH Harley-Davidsons.
The Road Rage’s exceptional power curve starts with stepped, equal-length header pipes that boost power where you need it the most—down low. Think about how seldom you rev a Big Twin to redline, and how often you snap the throttle open at low rpm to pass a truck or climb a grade, and you’ll see the wisdom of our approach. Equal-length header pipes, which come with with 12mm and 18mm O2 sensor ports and plugs, let the exhaust gases flow smoothly through the system without restriction, and pull the spent fuel away from the exhaust valves so the incoming charge isn’t contaminated. The result is optimal cylinder filling at low rpm, where other systems just sputter and choke.
There’s as much goodness outside each Road Rage system as there is inside. Each system comes with a 4-inch megaphone muffler and full-coverage heat shields to keep the pipes looking their best mile after mile. Polished billet aluminum end caps are standard, too, and come with milled grooves for a subtle touch of styling. The fiberglass-wrapped baffles are removable for easy servicing, and every Road Rage system uses the stock mounts for a true bolt-on installation.
The Road Rage line of exhausts has always been a top seller for us, and its reputation in the aftermarket earned it the V-Twin Expo’s Best Product of 2009 award. The Road Rage for 2010 FLH models comes in chrome or satin black, and both come with polished billet aluminum end caps. Its unique design and power characteristics mean the Road Rage will perform well on engines displacing between 80 and 131 inches.
Don’t get so hung up on tradition that you can’t see the facts about performance two-into-one exhausts. Available through Drag Specialties dealers.
